The Blessing Store |

This project critically explores a unique Chinese cultural phenomenon within folk beliefs, where deities are not ranked but flexibly invoked based on people’s needs. Unlike Western religious faith, this belief blends devotion with functionalism—a practical continuation of faith in modern life. For example, temple visits are motivated by hopes for a better future or escape from present grief.

I collected the most common made wishes and created an online “Blessing System” offering functional prayer options—such as wealth, health, and relationships. Users can select deities to pray to, perform online “confessions,” and check “fortunes,” simulating real-life faith practices.

Visually, the design incorporates traditional Buddhist and temple elements with vertical serif typography to create a cyber-temple prayer atmosphere.
